Top 7 Finishers All Aboard Yamaha WaveRunners
Yamaha Top 3 Riders Eric Francis, Brian Baldwin and Chris MacClugage With Yamaha Race Director Scott Watkins
Islamorada, Fla. — August 20, 2017 — Choppy conditions couldn’t stop Yamaha riders from putting on a show at Round 4 of P1 AquaX Racing held this weekend in Islamorada, with Yamaha sweeping the podium and taking the top 7 spots overall for the weekend.
The man of the hour was Yamaha rider Chris MacClugage. Aboard his Yamaha GP1800, he swept all three motos to finish first on the podium and further extend his overall lead for the tour. Joining him on the podium were fellow Yamaha GP1800 riders Eric Francis and Brian Baldwin who finished 2-3 overall.
The same Yamaha racers hold the top three positions overall for the tour, with Baldwin edging out Francis for the #2 position.
Finishing in the 4-7 spots this weekend were Mike Klippenstein (GP), Chris Saxon (FX SVHO), Cyrille Lemoine (GP), Eric Lagopoulos (FX SVHO). Of the complete pack of 21 racers this weekend, a full 16 of them were on Yamaha WaveRunners, cementing Yamaha’s position as the preeminent choice among racers for high performance and durability.

“The new GP1800 came out in force even in the rough conditions usually dominated by the FX SVHO,” said Yamaha’s race director Scott Watkins. “Whereas most brands hope for one model to put out a strong showing, we have two models that offer the reliability, durability and performance our racers need to sweep the podium in all conditions.”
P1 AquaX racing now heads to Chicago for Round 5 to be held September 9-10, 2017.
